Legacies Academy, literally and figuratively, creates a haven for growth and learning. Curiosity and happiness come to life in a place where children are allowed to follow their interests and explore their surroundings. Active classrooms filled with educational materials designed to engage students in hands-on learning. Located next to George Lane Park, students spend an equal amount of time outdoors exploring, playing as they do indoors. Our programs create a rich environment for your child that focuses on their holistic development through wonder, art, music, language, math, science, fine motor skills, and free play.

This program is led by a Certificated Teacher who guides the students through the Alberta Education Program in an inviting and engaging manner. In order to create an environment that actively teaches, we provide materials that encourage children to wonder, explore, slow down and look closer. As we observe our students we grab on to opportunities to incorporate the Academic Standards in ways that are authentic and meaningful to them. Subjects are fully integrated because one activity can cover a variety of areas. By doing this, we consider the development of the whole child. Not only do we focus on academic outcomes but also on the social/emotional development and uniqueness of every student. Children can receive quality academic education, while also nurturing a sense of curiosity, joy, and awe that encompasses a positive childhood.

Kindergarten Program

Kindergarten is where the culmination of developed skills gained through the hands on materials and curriculum becomes evident. This program is led by a Certificated Teacher who guides the students through the Alberta Education Program in an inviting and engaging manner. The multi-age classroom, first and foremost, is a calming and respectful space that belongs to the children in scale, proportion, flow, comfort, safety, and inspiration. It is a hands-on, interactive environment that “calls” to them and is a place “of grace and beauty”. It is here that the seeds of literacy, numeracy, care of self, others and the environment are sown. Both the practical and wondrous are offered in response to the child’s innate striving toward independence, toward the desire and ability to “do it for myself”.

Preschool Program

Preschool is the next learning extension where students build upon their knowledge and skill sets. This program is designed to set the foundation for language and math, learning letter sounds, identifying numbers, pre-graphics, fine motor and gross motor development. Our classroom is thoughtfully prepared to foster the growth of this unique and extremely important period of time and is a nurturing and rich learning environment. The classroom environment is beautiful and amazing; teachers supporting the child’s abilities, choice of work, development of practical life skills, and satisfaction in growing independence applied at such a young age. Providing prepared environment tailored to their size, abilities, and interests is the greatest gift.

Teeny-Weeny Wildies
Toddler Program - Future Program
- 2 Years old by September -
The short year of time is among the most important of your child’s cognitive development and lays the future foundation. This play program allows children to ease into Preschool by being exposed to school for shorter time periods socializing and settling in. We believe that toddler aged children absorb great amounts of knowledge from their environment quickly and effortlessly.
